Hello everyone,

Just a few notes to catch up on everything.   I enjoyed my mini vacation. I did not realize how much I needed that.  It was great to see family and friends in my hometown.

I am rested and back to working on quilting.   I feel better than I have in a few years. I am back to working on two machines at a time; therefore, my turnaround time is running closer to three weeks.  I am fully ready for more work – feel free to recommend me to your friends and send your quilts my way anytime.

Currently, I am working on a quilt that was intended as a wedding gift for a good friend, but sadly, the groom passed away before the wedding could take place.  She is, of course, devastated – I am continuing to work on the quilt and will gift it to her at a later time.

I have several charity projects to complete for Project Linus and CVAAN, the battered women's shelter.  I love making charity quilts; they keep me busy and help me use up fabric.

I think I will be working for the next 20 years. Fortunately, I love what I do, I love everything about quilting.  I enjoy working with all my customers and derive great satisfaction from completing their quilts, bringing them to life, and bringing joy to the people they will touch.  You can’t ask for better than that.  I am truly blessed and feel very grateful.  Not that life is always rosy, but I do find that my attitude towards the hard stuff helps me navigate situations much better.

A few hiccups when I returned,  I discovered I have some major repairs to do to my house – the biggest is that the crawl space has issues that can not be overlooked any longer (I did not know it was an issue at all, I never go under my house)  A trusted source alerted me to some problems and I called in an expert.  There are no structural issues if I address them now.   Long story short, they will fully encapsulate the crawl space in September.  This will take about 4 days, but I should not disrupt the workday.

With all that work, I finally decided to address the 30-year-old floors on the downstairs level.  I am so glad I did this. I like the new look.

August marked the 17th anniversary of my son’s passing, and my family spent the day together touring the church where my granddaughter will be married next March. The church is tiny, and that is what they wanted.  Just large enough for close friends and family.  I know her Daddy will be there in spirit to witness this start of her life.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I can’t believe it is almost over.

Please keep the quilts coming – I need to stay busy, and I appreciate each and every one of you.  I don’t think I would have gotten through the last several years without all your help.

Sincerely

Rebecca

Happy Quilting

Hi Everyone,

I hope this newsletter finds you all happy, healthy, and wealthy.  I am Happy and Healthy so 2 out 3 is a win.  I am more fortunate than many, and I am grateful for all my many blessings.

My hands still are not perfect, but I think we are finally on our way to a full recovery.  I stumbled on a remedy that I feel is working this time.     I use sound therapy using a tuning fork, a red light glove, aroma therapy, and/or Manuka cream along with the red light.  30 mins every morning and again at night.  I've now been without braces for 3 nights, and I already feel an improvement.

As for my health, I am doing great.  I am now down to my goal weight and in spite of what some people have said to me, like “you're too skinny,” “Are you well?”  “Are you doing this on purpose.   – Yes, I feel better today than I have in a long time.  Weight loss is on purpose with my doctor’s blessing.  I am a small framed woman so my weight is perfect for my age and height.   No, I am not too skinny, your just used to seeing me too fat.

On the business side of life, Business has been way down – more than I have ever seen since I started quilting in 1998 – I have made good use of my free time.  I made a few quilts of my own and entered the local quilt show.  I was blessed with 4 ribbons, 1 of which was the best of machine quilting.  I always love getting that one.

Spending a bit more time with friends and I have a trip to Florida, July 19-26, I will be going to see my sister, girlfriend, and stepson and his family.  I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone.

I have dipped my toes into the world of online dating.  It is not going very well for me in that department.  I guess I am just too picky. When you were married to the best, it is hard to replace that.  However, I do hold out hope that there will be one more person in the world for me yet.  We shall see.   It is a different world, which is for sure.

I hope business picks up soon, too much free time on my hands is not a good thing for me. That is when I do start feeling lonely.  I am normally really good at entertaining myself, and for the most part I am still good at that.

I have gone back down to my pre-tariff price list with some very minor increases for the Basic catalog and thread.    I will keep the batting prices down for as long as possible.  So far, the prices are holding for batting.   I did raise the price of binding. Most of my customers can do their binding, and as you know, this is very time-consuming.

I will be updating my catalogs again in a few weeks.  That is next on my to-tackle list.

Some exciting news, my granddaughter is now engaged to a wonderful young man, and we are planning a wedding for March of 2026. I have the easy part, planning and paying for the reception.  We will have it at the Speedway club in the Ballroom.  A bit full circle for us, so many memories of my husband and friends spending much of our lives there for the races.  I have not been there in a good 9-10 years, and I felt his presence with me as soon as I pulled in to meet the event coordinator.  It is such a beautiful place.

I think that Is about all going on here.  Please keep those quilts coming.   If you do ship to me while I am in Florida, my grandson is going to be here to bring them in.

Thanks so much for all your support

My hand surgery has been postponed to Dec 30th.  Not my choice but it all works out for the best.  This gives me more time to work on holiday quilts for you so keep them coming in the next 2 weeks.  Then I will be closed for Christmas 24th and 25th and again Dec 29th to Jan 15th to heal. and get this put behind me.

I look forward to seeing you soon

I hope everyone is staying cool, it seems this past month has  been the hottest month on record.  Here is NC we have been getting a good deal of rain in the past 2 weeks that has helped cool things down a little bit.

In addition to working on quilting for others I have been making a queen size quilt for my granddaughter.  I don't normally make large quilts anymore but I love her dearly so of course I said yes when she asked.  I am almost finished.

I have played with some wool and finished a landscape, a vessel and a bunny rabbit.  This is very addicting.

Last month I entered my local Quilt Guild's Quilt show - It has been a good 9 years or so that I entered a show - Thanks to the new group who agreed to do some special handling I entered 7 of my leather pieces and 2 fabric quilts.   I was pleasantly surprised to win a total of 8 ribbons- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and best machine quilting.  My grandson helped me add them to the ribbon walls.

Damien ad I entered his quilt as a duet and although he did not win a ribbon he received some very good comments from the judges on his quilting and he was very happy with that.  I did all the piecing and he did the quilting on it.  The competition in that category was steep.

On a Business note:

I have made some updates on the Quilting prices tab to add a few more batting selections.  I personally love the Dream cotton as a first choice but I will carry the Warm and Natural Cotton and for a lighter weight choice Hobbs 80/20.

Also I have added Hand binding back in as a option.

I have been able to stay within the 30 day turn around time and I have been able to work in those must have done sooner quilts.

A new order form is now available to reflect the changes.

I am still working on the email list for the newsletters for now keep checking the blog and always feel free to contact me with any questions you have.

I will be uploading some new patterns soon.

Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you all soon.

If you are not getting my newsletter please sign up again on the home page and make sure you add   - Rebecca@thequiltersstation.com to your  address book.   I am still getting a high number of errors when I send out newsletters,  They  now have to come from the above email and my server sends them to my personal email.   Google thinks I am spam and kicks me back unless you have this in your address book.

Funny how you can go for years doing it one way and then suddenly it changes - thats technoligy for us.

Thanks so much

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that I am fully recovered, feeling great and have been back in the studio every day and loving it.   I am walking 2 miles almost daily, rejoined my local quilt guild and art guild.  I have been enjoying getting back to normal and playing with fabrics, woolfelting, embroidery and lol I just placed a new order for leather to make a few things again.

My turn around time is back to normal 3-4 weeks,  With being home by myself most of the time I get alot more work done.   I hope to be able to offer hand binding again soon so stay tuned!   I am accepting new customers again so please feel free to give my name out to your friends.

Hope to see and/or hear from you all very soon

Happy Quilting

yeah!! Spring is almost here.  Our days here in NC are running in the 60's and lows at night are in the 30's.  I am getting out walking and feeling good.

I had my 6 month with the Cardo Dr and all looks good - another 6 months on the Blood eds and I can come off of those as long as I continue to do my walking and eat healthy.  My weight as almost to goal.

I had my check up with the orthopedic for the carpel tunnel - the surgery has healed really well but I still have tingling.  He explained that the nerves regenerate at 1mm per day so I have about 150 days from the tunnel to the end of my finger.  I have full use of the hands and still wear a brace on each at night.  I have decided to postpone the right hand until just before Christmas of 24 that way I will be healed for work by mid Jan at the latest (I was quilting 8 days after the left hand) and there is always the possibility that using the braces I may not need the surgery on the right hand at all by Christmas.  Here is hoping.

I hope every one is staying warm, healthy and happy and please send the quilts my way.  Right now it has been really slow and I am bored - That is not a good thing for me.   I have however pieced a few quilts of my own - I made one for my grandson and then he quilted it himself.  He will start working with me a few days a week learning on his own or charity quilts.  So far he has done really well with it and shows a natural talent for quilting.  He made is very 1st quit when he was 5 - he is almost 21 now and it has been a pleasure for me to watch him and my granddaughter blossom into such wonderful adults.  This Sunday we Celebrate my granddaughters 22 birthday.  She enjoys the quilting as well but is studying and working as a Vet Tech.  I am so proud of them both.

All for now, Doing good and ready to get back to work,

Rebecca

Surgery on the left hand went well on Friday.   The Swelling is finally coming down today (Day 4)  I think yesterday was the worst.  Tomorrow I can take the bandage off and use a simple Waterproof small bandaid and can use the had a little more.  Today is my first real attempt to come into the studio and do just a few simple task and since typing is one of the things I can do I thought this was a good time to update everyone.

Jan 16th I go to get stitches out and at that point I can use the hand as much as I want to - The fingers are a bit stiff so I am sure it will take a bit to get back up to full speed- I am looking foward to it.  I have spent most of the past 4 days watching movies and series and as nice as that sounds I am bored.  I am used to being on the move all the time.

Expecting a winter storm in late this afternoon - Please God keep the power on.....

All for now
